Redmi Pad 2 FCC certified; Design, key details emerge ahead of expected April launch

Highlights

  • The upcoming Redmi Pad 2 has been approved by the FCC certification platform.
  • It has revealed a few key details about the tablet, along with its design.
  • It is expected to launch in April.

In January, two Redmi tablets with model numbers 25040RP0AG and 2505DRP06G were approved by Europe’s EEC authority. Last week, XpertPick spotted their Indian variants—25040RP0AI and 2505DRP06I—on India’s BIS certification database. Notably, the letters “G” and “I” at the end of these model numbers indicate their global and Indian variants, respectively. The numbers “2504” and “2505” suggest that these tablets are planned for release in April and May, respectively, across different regions.

Recently, 91mobiles spotted the 25040RP0AG model on certification platforms like Singapore’s IMDA and the UAE’s TDRA. The TDRA listing confirms that this device will launch as the Redmi Pad 2. In a fresh development, the FCC has also approved the Redmi Pad 2, hinting at a possible April launch. Here is a look at the details that have emerged through its FCC certification.

Redmi Pad 2 FCC certified

  • The Redmi Pad 2, bearing the model number 25040RP0AL, has appeared in the FCC database.
  • The FCC label images also mention other model numbers, such as 25040RP0AE and 25040RP0AG. This indicates that all three model numbers are associated with the Redmi Pad 2, likely for different regions.
  • In terms of specifications, the FCC listing reveals that the Redmi Pad 2 supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4G and 5G) and Bluetooth. It appears that the tablet may lack cellular connectivity.
  • The device will come preloaded with the latest HyperOS 2.1, most likely overlaid on Android 15. The other specifications of the tablet remain under wraps.
  • The schematics available in the FCC documents suggest that the Redmi Pad 2’s back panel will feature an oval-shaped camera module at the top-left corner. However, it is unclear whether it will include an LED flash. The Redmi branding can be seen at the bottom-left corner.
  • Finally, the top edge of the tablet appears to feature a pair of speakers and a power button.

While the identity of the 25040RP0AG/I/A/E has been confirmed as the Redmi Pad 2, the final marketing name of the 2505DRP06G/I tablet remains unknown. Hopefully, this mystery will be resolved in the coming days.
