Highlights

  • Batteries meant for the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series have received the SafetyKorea certification.
  • The series is expected to include two models: Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
  • The Watch 8 series is expected to debut in July this year.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series is said to be in the works. The next-generation lineup may likely include two models: the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. As per X user @theordysm, information surfaced through test firmware suggests that model numbers SM-L320, SM-L325U, SM-L330, and SM-L335U may belong to the different size variants and configurations of the Watch 8. On the other hand, model numbers SM-L500 and SM-L505 could be associated with the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.

In a new development, two batteries that seemingly belong to the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic have received SafetyKorea certification in South Korea. For those who are unfamiliar, the South Korean certification ensures the safety and compliance of electronic products, particularly in terms of safety standards and environmental regulations, before they are sold in the country.

  • The above screenshots show that two batteries, EB-BL330ABY and EB-BL505ABY, have been approved by the SafetyKorea authority.
  • These batteries appear to be associated with the Galaxy Watch 8 (SM-L330 variant) and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (SM-L505 variant), respectively.
  • As can be seen in the third screenshot, the TUV certification has revealed that the EB-BL330ABY battery has a typical capacity of 435mAh. The battery size of the EB-BL505ABY is not known yet.
  • In related news, the EB-BL320ABY battery was certified by India’s BIS certification platform last month. Unfortunately, it did not reveal the battery size, but it appears that it may be slightly smaller than the EB-BL330ABY battery.

The rumour mill is yet to leak concrete information about the Watch 8 series’ specifications. Also, there is no clarity on whether the brand will launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 this year. As far as launch is concerned, the Watch 8 lineup is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 in July this year.
