Vivo Y29s 5G receives TDRA certification as Vivo expands Y29 series

Highlights

  • Vivo Y29s 5G has been TDRA certified in the UAE.
  • It will be a new addition to the Vivo Y29 series.
  • It may arrive with latest Android OS and a new chip.

Vivo Y29s 5G has been spotted for the first time. The upcoming budget-friendly 5G phone has appeared in the databases of TDRA and SGS Fimko certification platforms. This indicates that the brand is planning to expand the Y29 series, which currently includes only one model, the Vivo Y29, which went official in December 2024 in India.

Vivo is also working on another Y29 model dubbed the Vivo Y29 4G with the model number V2434. This device has emerged in multiple certifications in recent weeks. Since it has also appeared in Google Play Console, it may not take too long for it to break cover.

Vivo Y29s 5G TDRA certification

The Vivo Y29s 5G has been spotted with the model number V2446 in the UAE’s TDRA certification. The same model number was spotted last month in SGS Fimko’s database, but unfortunately, it did not reveal anything significant about the device. At present, there is no concrete information about the core specs of the Y29s.

Vivo Y29s specifications (expected)

Last year, Vivo unveiled the Vivo Y28 and Y28s smartphones in January and June, respectively. Therefore, it is likely that the Y29s may debut by mid-2025, as the Y29 went official in December 2024.

When comparing the Vivo Y28 and Y28s, there are two noticeable differences. First, the chipset changed from Dimensity 6020 to Dimensity 6300, and the other change was from Android 13 with Funtouch OS 13 to Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14 on the Y28s.

Therefore, it is likely that the Vivo Y29s 5G may come with the latest Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15. While the Y29 5G has the Dimensity 6300, the Y29s may feature a new chip, probably Dimensity 6400, or something else—this remains to be seen. The rest of the specs could be identical to the Y29.

The Vivo Y29 features a 6.68-inch IPS LCD HD+ 120Hz screen, up to 8 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB of storage, a 5,500mAh battery with 44W charging, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and an IP64-rated chassis. For photography, it has an 8-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back.
